Whether it happened during our teenage years or still battling through it, we’ve all been there. We’ve all gone through the anxiety of seeing our faces filled with clogged pores and have gone through the desperation of finding the perfect product to heal our scars and calm down those red bumps on our faces.
I have been there too and I’m still going through it.
I too have spend thousands of dollars on said products and have used harsh chemicals and light therapies to control it. I’ve looked at myself in the mirror and hated the reflection and I have also put pounds of makeup to hide it. I not only hid my acne, but I also hid how it made me feel, how I felt like everyone stared at me for the bumps and scars and have asked myself “Why can’t I have perfect skin like so and so? Why me?”
I have also learned to love my body as well as my skin, even though it’s not “perfect” it is absolutely gorgeous. The human body is so magical that it gives you signs to change something in our lives, whether it is a bump or an ache, it will tell you that something in your diet or in your life is wrong and we have to listen to it.
It’s okay to have acne, it is our bodies trying to communicate with us, to remind us that we have to fix our diets and have a full-night rest. We do not have to use harsh chemicals for our acne to disappear, it’ll only strip out the good oils that protect our skin and cause more acne in our skin. As long as you have a healthy diet, a quiet mind, drink lots of water, and make sure you exercise and have a full night’s rest, things will get better.
Because things will get better, no matter what.
In fact, flaunt your acne, show the world that you are not afraid to go against what society think is perfect. Screw the edited pictures that make us curl up in a ball because we’ll never look that good, create your own definition of beautiful and remember that everyone has a different definition of what beautiful is. To me, a beautiful person take care of themselves, who are willing to transform and have an open mind and heart.
I think YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL, because you’re willing to try new things and to take care of your body. You have an open mind, a different point of view, and you’re ready to flaunt it.
Carry on, gorgeous, and make sure to listen to what your body is telling you.
